Meshalkin Surgeon Biography
Born on February 12 25 in the city of Yekaterinoslav now-Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine in the family of an engineer-zelebelly worker. In the year he moved to Moscow, graduated from high school, was a worker at the Sickle and Hammer plant. In the year he graduated from the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute. During the Great Patriotic War, he participated as a surgeon in the 6-month raid of the Cavalry Corps of Lieutenant General P.
Belov on the rear of the enemy, in the battle on the Kursk arc, the liberation of Ukraine, Poland and Czechoslovakia. At the front, Meshalkin worked as a surgeon, a leading surgeon of the medical unit, the head of the general surgical, neurosurgical and thoracic groups of a separate company of medical strengthening. After the war, Meshalkin worked at the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute as a resident, assistant, associate professor and professor in the clinic of A.
Bakulev, was in charge of the Department of Mastard Surgery and Anesthesiology of the QIU doctors Meshalkin, one of the first in the USSR, began to study and develop the method of intubation anesthesia. On this problem, he published the monograph “Technique of Intubation anesthesia” devoted a lot of time to breast surgery. In the year in the experiment, he carried out a number of operations reproducing biological models of congenital heart defects.
One of the first in our country was the method of sounding and contrasting the heart examination in the diagnosis of its congenital defects, this topic was devoted to his doctoral dissertation “angiocardiography in patients with congenital heart defects” he successfully operated on sick children suffering from innate heart defects; I developed diagnostic issues and methods of surgical treatment of heart defects and vascular diseases.
For work in this area in the year, Meshalkin was awarded the Lenin Prize, together with B. Petrovsky, A. Vishnevsky and P., together with A. Bakulev, he wrote the monograph “Congenital Frequencies of the Heart”, which included all the information known by the pathology, the clinic and the surgical treatment of congenital heart defects. In the year at the World Exhibition in Brussels, this work was awarded the award.
In the years, Meshalkin was the first of Soviet surgeons to perform various options for operations of inter -human anastomoses in cyanotic heart defects and for the first time in world practice successfully applied N. developed in the experiment in the experiment Talankin at the A. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery Operation Anastomosis of the Upper Highway Vienna and the pulmonary artery.
For the first time in the USSR, he successfully carried out operations for coarctation aorta and applied canned homotics for plastic aorta, plastic tissue frame prosthesis, he introduced into clinical practice the methods of operating lungs and heart biopsy, punctures, which made it possible to clarify the circulatory regime and the level of heart metabolism with different vices in the number of these.
Observation exceeded with his assistants Meshalkin developed and introduced into clinical practice a number of methods of heart and vessels: an emergency operation for mitral stenosis, a multibinding seam of the wall of the heart and blood vessels, including during the non -arterial duct, percussion access to the pulmonary artery valves and in defects in the interventoral partition, subtotal septum of subtotal.
The pericardectomy, with the adhesive periodic pericarditis, performed the first operation of resection and reconstruction of the aortic arc in the USSR regarding its aneurysm, the first to successfully applied the mechanical valve of the heart of Meshalkin much attention to the use of synthetic materials in surgery. The processing of the surgeon’s hands offered by synthetic detergents, as well as monolithic plastic threads for the seam of the vessels and the chest wall, passed a long -term clinical check.
Projecting a lot in the experiment and the clinic with an artificial circulation apparatus, Meshalkin at the same time with his assistants successfully developed the method of operations on a “dry” heart without artificial circulation. The thorough thoughtfulness of the stages of surgery and the brilliant technique allowed it to operate in the conditions of moderate hypothermia complex heart defects defect of the interventricular partition, notebook and triad phallo, suturing of mechanical prostheses during mitral and aortic insufficiency, without resorting to artificial circulation.
In the field of light surgery, Meshalkin was the first in the USSR to resection the average share and intermediate bronchus about the adenoma, having successfully performed anastomosis of the bronchus end to the end in collaboration with L. Alperin published the monograph “Various methods of lung denunciation in the surgery of bronchial asthma”, 12 monographs and 47 inventions.
He gave a lot of effort to the training of scientific personnel. In his opinion, “from each cardiac surgeon, not only filigree technology is required, but a special, very subtle sense of rhythm. And since more than one person operates on the heart, it means that the ensemble working in a single rhythm is necessary. ”Meshalkin is a member of international surgeons and cardiovascular surgeons, a member of the board of the All -Union societies of surgeons and cardiologists, an honorary member of the All -Union Society of Anesthesiologists and Reanimators, a number of republican and regional societies of surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists.
For many years he conducted great public work, being a member of the Soviet Committee for the Protection of the World, a deputy of the Novosibirsk City Council of People's Deputies with lived and worked in Novosibirsk.
He died on March 8. He was buried in the South Cherbuzin cemetery in Novosibirsk. The Lenin Prize Laureate of the Lenin Prize was awarded to the Honorary Citizen of Novosibirsk, the name of Meshalkin is a research institute of circulatory pathology, before which his monument is erected.
