Mazzy Star rock music styles presenting Dream Pop as a focused psychedelic mixture of a folk and blues, “Mazzy Star” achieved noticeable commercial successes, but at the same time they did not chase fame at all and, if possible, avoided various interviews. In fact, this California team was a duet consisting of a vocalist Hope Sandoil and responsible for the instrumental parties of the guitarist David Robek.
The last of them began his career in the ranks of the Paisley Underground movement, and, having played in several groups, became part of Opal. In turn, Hope performed in the Folk Douete "Going Home", but once the demolition of this ensemble fell into the hands of David, and he invited the girl to work together. Soon, a real opportunity introduced himself for this, and when the then vocalist Opal "unexpectedly left the composition, her place took sended.
Due to the fact that the guitarist was connected by contract obligations, they had to speak under the former name for a couple of years, but with the filing of Hope the couple made records for her upcoming project and, as a result, finally switched to him, taking the name" Mazzy Star ". In May, the new team announced itself with the “She Hangs Brightly” plate, which, however, at first did not cause much resonance.
And although the Blue Flower track came to the line of the Billboard alternative lists, and in England the circulation of the disk slowly pulled up to the mark B, there was no need to talk about the recognition of the wide masses. The debut album was produced under the flag of the Roun Trade, but the American branch of this office soon closed, and the Mazzy Star was left without a contract.
The duet was helped out by Capitol Records, which reprinted “She Hans Brightly”, and later released the second full -length. At first, the audience’s reaction was also similar, but unexpectedly a year later the song “Fade Into You” fell into a rotation on the radio and eventually turned into a real hit.
The composition visited the main chart "Billboard" and was noted in the top three leaders of the "Modern Rock Tracks" list, due to which the album sales steadily crawled up and ultimately went to the platinum line. And although the track "Fade into You" actually remained the only major achievement of the group, he fixed the image of the heroes of the Indie scene for "Mazzy Star".
Nevertheless, the team’s concerts were a rather rare phenomenon, and the next studio came out only in the fall. This time the album was noticeably different from their predecessors, since the musicians decided to make the sound of "Among My Swan" minimalist-acoustic. With a two hundred thousandth circulation, the plate reached the lines of "Billboard", and the accompanying single "Flowers in December" managed to climb into the British top, however, all these achievements seemed to have little excited musicians, because soon "Mazzy Star" not only left the "Capitol", but also even froze their freezing activity.
Everyone went and Robek went about their own affairs, but they reunited a short European tour in M for a short time. Another 10 years passed before rumors crawled about the preparation of the new album, but they were really confirmed only in September. The program "Season of Your Day" also gravitated to acoustics, but not as much as last time, but in the charts she was given a warmer reception, both in America and in England.
