Biographies and Petipa
Although it was in St. Petersburg that Marius Petipa made his career, founding the Russian ballet school and putting some of his best works, its story began in Marseille in the year. Born in the family of dancers, young Marius could not resist the call of the dance. He quickly realized that, despite the incredible success of romantic ballets, such as Giselle, the genre stagnated.
He wanted to revive him, focusing on the narrative through the dance. By the year, his career brought him to Paris and Bordeaux where he was appointed chief dancer, and he presented his first plot ballet: La Jolie Bordelaise Bordeaux. In the Imperial Theater, he moved from the chief dancer to the official choreographer in the year with his first success, the daughter of the pharaoh, in the same year.
Having earned the admiration of the king himself, Petipa began to work in all theaters of the imperial ballet and led the imperial ballet school for a year. His works of this period include some of his most beloved, Don Quixote and Bayadel Tchaikovsky, an artistic meeting says that the first meeting of the pet with Tchaikovsky took place at the Mariinsky Theater at the presentation of the bayaders.
When Petipa went on stage for a bow, he turned to the lodge where Tchaikovsky was sitting, and exclaimed: “If only the most important Russian composer could write for our theater!
